The family of a heavily pregnant teacher who was murdered at her home in Illovo, south of KwaZulu Natal wants answers as to who may have ordered a hit on her. Hlengiwe Zwane (37) was shot and killed allegedly by five unknown men on Friday night.

SHOT AND KILLED

The recently married Zwane was a teacher at the Sikhukhukhu Primary School. According to Illanga, Zwane was watching television with her children and her sister when the gunmen stormed her house. It is alleged that the men demanded the keys to the Toyota Etios that was parked in the yard. Zwane's eldest daughter told the men that her aunt who was not home at the time had the keys.  "Two men entered the house while three waited outside,' Zwane's sister who didn't want to be named fearing for her safety said. The ringleader is said to have forced his way through other rooms in the house and ordered all the children inside one bedroom and locked them inside. "The two men ordered my sister into another bedroom, she was sitting on the couch and begged them to be gentle with her as she was seven months pregnant. They spoke to her, but we didn't hear what they were saying. It wasn't long before I heard my sister screaming for the last time before they shot her. I has earlier begged one of the men not to kill her and he told me that they don't kill women, but they did,' said the sobbing sister.

RAF PAY OUT

Zwane was involved in a car accident a while back and she recently received a payout of R3 million from the Road Accident Fund. "She recently bought a house and a Toyota Corolla and a Mercedes Benz. In December last year she got married to the father of the baby she was expecting, but they separated a few months ago after they had and he moved out of their house,' the sister said. She added that the family wanted to know who would have wanted her dead because she was just a teacher who loved her job and her children. 'She was not a talkative person but was a good person," she added. KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident and said no one has been arrested. Police investigations are continuing.
