She is devastated by her son's death but bravely takes to the podium accompanied by her son Steffan and his girlfriend Brittany. AKA's mother Lynn Forbes never for once imagined she would receive that dreadful call that her son Kiernan "AKA' Forbes was murdered. AKA was shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.
REMAINING POSITIVE
Looking uncomfortably cheerful and in a celebratory mood,Lynn blew kisses to the mourners. "I think I'm in trouble and I'll tell you in a minute why.' Before she proceeds with her speech, Lynn reminds the mourners that this day is all about celebration. She asks the audience to observe a moment of silence for Tebello "Tibz' Motsoane who was gunned down along with AKA that fateful night and proceeds to speak about her son. "I had a very simple plan of only having two sons. That's all I ever wanted. I got them. Tony and I had these two beautiful children,' she says. But she feels she has adopted the entire team that worked with AKA including his fanbase. "Everyone that's walked on this stage is now my son. My heart is all over the place. They are guarding me from the back, from the side, and everywhere. If you look at The Megacy. If you are under 55, then you are my child,' she says.
CELEBRATING DJ ZINHLE AND NADIA NAKAI
"I want to celebrate Zinhle and Nadia. This is not a normal situation for everyone. It's all love over here. I aimed to have two sons, but I gained three daughters, Brittany, Nadia and Zinhle and forever both of you will always be my daughters. I don't care what anybody says on social media about you ?" The Megacy matter and you matter because I love you. For my three daughters and my countless sons. Don Design, I love you my son.' Lynn joked about not going on stage without DJ Zinhle and Nadia. "I didn't wanna have fights.'
THE BRUTAL MURDER
She continues to speak as a mother who has had a child taken away from her "violently, carelessly and calculatedly,' she says. "He was taken out in cold blood. I have a responsibility to his fans and the people who supported him for almost two decades now. Two decades of KA, two decades of Supa Mega,' she says. "Today, a week ago, my heart was shattered into countless pieces. But today and every other day going forward, it will not just be about me, the rest of our family friends, and extended family. It will be about The Megacy, as our broader family. I believe that's what Kiernan wanted. He belonged to all of us,' she says. "My beloved children of The Megacy, Kiernan's body has been taken from us, just his body, in the most brutal way, and I do understand that just like me and our family, you must feel the same amount of anger and incredible pain and disbelief. All of these emotions are normal. I want you to feel them. But I want you to be in control of how you manage them.'
