While people enjoy a good holiday and time off, criminals are not resting. Gospel star Ayanda Shange and his wife Koketso became recent victims of crime when she was almost kidnapped. The wife of the Sihamba Ngomoya singer was drugged and kidnapped but saved by a church member and she is currently at home recovering from the trauma.

HOW THE INCIDENT HAPPENED

 Ayanda has opened up about how a day turned into a nightmare when she was almost kidnapped by an elderly woman who had been following her. "The next thing this old rotten mother sprays my wife in her eyes with something enomuthi(with muthi). My wife couldn't scream or speak or do anything,but she was obeying whatever this rotten mother was saying,' Ayanda says.' This mother tried to make a call to her man to come to fetch Koketso, unfortunately,there was load-shedding so the network was off.' Ayanda details how the woman then took his wife, "She took her to some kasi in Lawley Two, Extension 10, where she was going to give her to his men.' But her kidnap plan failed. "Fortunately, because my church is everywhere, some mother from my church TACC recognised her and called her "mntwana kaBaba ufunani la' (Pastor's child, what are you doing here?) My wife couldn't respond, instead, tears were flowing. Then our church mother realised that she's got a problem, then that's where the rotten mother ran away.'

Ayanda is grateful that his wife is now safe at home and trying to recover from the trauma. "All that matters is that she is safe. We have not been able to report the matter because we don't know who the people that have tried to kidnap my wife are,' he says "She is still not completely okay, but through prayer, she will be okay. I feel that it was maybe someone who knows us personally. They could have trafficked her or tried to extort money from us, it could have been anyone, but we are grateful that she is okay.'
