Famous South African social media Influencer, television personality and entrepreneur known as Gogo Maweni is hosting her first Ubungoma Festival at the Constitutional Hill, Braamfontein  in Johannesburg today.

AN AFRICAN GIFT

Real name Makgotso Lee-Anne Makopo, Gogo Maweni will host the event under her company called G Maweni Productions. They will host a high energy and explosive production, showcasing a combination of the best emerging and established talent across the country.  "The aim of the event is to showcase to the world that ubungoma is an African gift which must be embraced. It is our calling as Africans which we want to teach the nation that it is not a fluke but a real thing. People must respect it, cherish it and at the same time giving your ancestors the chance to lead you and not the other way round," said Publicist Simphiwe Majola.

CELEBRATING TRADITION

The Ubungoma Festival will include the appearances of Gogo Maweni and Moja Love's Gogo Skhotheni. The MC is the talented and vibrant TV Personality Somizi Mhlongo, with performances by Sjava, Nomfundo Moh, Blaq Diamond, Khuzani, DJ Lamiez, Anzo, Lerato Kganyago, Mnqobi Yazi, Aubrey Qwama and many more artists. The Inaugural Ubungoma festival will embark on a roadshow throughout Johannesburg that will educate and empower youth about ubungoma, being an African, whilst hosting a variety of  pop up activations, African cuisine experiences and much more. This will be a quite an exciting festival filled with laughter, love, music, arts and crafts. There will be food stalls selling different kind of delicious traditional food. This festival is open to everyone, spiritual or not. It's a festival to celebrate traditionalism.
