The father of four-year old Bogabo Poo struggled to contain his anger when he saw his child's killer. He pounced on him while court was in session but the police ran to aid the suspect. The gallery was filled with family, community members as well as supporters from political parties who wanted to see the man who committed such a heinous crime.
KIDNAPPING, RAPE, MURDER
The 28-year-old Ntokozo Zikhali, who was arrested on Friday for abducting and killing Bogabo appeared for the first time on today. He was charged with kidnapping, rape, murder, defeating the ends of justice and violation of a corpse.
It is alleged that Zikhali was arrested earlier this year for raping a 9year old and was released on bail.
HE HAS RAPED A CHILD BEFORE
A community member who wanted to be identified as Buthenyane said she thought Zikhali was in jail all along. "When I saw his pictures circulating that he was arrested for killing Bogabo I cried because we caught him earlier this year for raping another child. The justice system failed our children because had they kept this monster behind bars, we would probably be singing a different tune. Clearly he was never remorseful from his first crime so he came back to finish what he started, "she said.
WOMAN DISCOVERS LEG
The four year old's mutilated body was a discovered last week in Tamboville, Ekurhuleni but no one knew it was her. SAPS spokesman Colonel Mavela Masondo told Zimoja that there was a body of a child that was found in two locations in Tamboville.
"The body was discovered by community members a day after Bogabo went missing. Community members reported they had discovered the body and DNA tests had to be performed."The NPA's Lumka Mahanjana said, "Zikhali approached Bogabo and a five-year-old friend while they were playing in a park in Wattville, Benoni. The accused gave the little boy money to go buy lollipops and lured the deceased to an unknown location. Later that day, the parents of the deceased reported the child missing to the police. The next morning, a woman from the neighbourhood was sweeping her yard and discovered she came across a human leg, she alerted a neighbour, and they contacted the police. As part of the investigation, CCTV footage from a nearby tavern was discovered, which showed the deceased walking with Zikhali, on the day of her disappearance." Zikhali was identified by a petrol attendent, who quickly called the police to a petrol station in Boksburg North. The accused will be back in court on the 24th of October for formal bail application. Zikhali's defence has withdrawn from the matter stating conflict of interest.
