Former top cop on found on the opposite side of the law!

Kgomotso Phahlane has been nabbed for tender corruption

Former Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane was among a group of six police officials who were arrested between yesterday and Monday in connection with a 54million tender. The group arrested by the NPA involves six high ranking officials in the police force. This including two current serving major generals and two business men.

PAYING MILLIONS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA

Allegations point out to Phahlane as an instrument in the payment of millions towards a Durban-based company contracted for social media monitoring the  #FeesMustFall protests. Phahlane held office from 2015 to 2017 and was released from his duties after being found guilty on corruption allegations. Last month, the National Prosecuting Authority's  Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) seized the assets of former high ranking SAPS officials, Phahlane and Deliwe De Lange, over the R191 million blue lights corruption case.

POLICE NAB THEM AROUND THE COUNTRY

The Independent Directorate spokeswoman Sindisiwe  confirmed that two of the suspects  were nabbed at the OR Tambo International Airport boarding flights to Durban and Cape Town. She said the other suspects were arrested in Durban, Bloemfontein and in various areas around Pretoria. Two of the suspects are due to appear at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Court on Wednesday to face criminal charges. They are facing charges of fraud, corruption, and theft.
