The saying: "When one door closes, another one opens", speaks to former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Brighton Mhlongo. In May 2021, Mhlongo had to retire from professional football at the ripe age of 30 while playing for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) after a ball struck him hard on his face, leaving him partially blind.
CAREER WAS CUT SHORT
After visiting an eye specialist, he was advised by the doctors to retire sooner, rather than later. Come 1 May 2023, Mhlongo will become a sportscaster when he joins the seasoned radio and TV personality, Faith Mangope and hosts - Nelisiwe Mmape, Kgosi Rankhumise, Bolele Polisa and Obakeng ?OB Knows' Ngobeni as presenters on the The Morning Show (TMS), to simulcast on e.TV and eNCA, seven days a week.
IN GOOD HANDS
For over four years without fail, the show has kept audiences captivated with it being both educational and entertaining and relevant content that speaks to the viewers' hearts - from current affairs; entertainment; in-depth conversations; politics and African spirituality, just to name a few. The show is produced by Cheeky Media, a production company which has produced popular television shows such as Real Talk With Anele and The Man Cave.
