Former ANCYL leader Magasela Mzobe appointed as MK Party’s head of presidency

Magasela Mzobe has been appointed head of the Presidency at MK Party

uMkhonto weSizwe Party has appointed former ANCYL and EFF member Magasela Mzobe as the head of the Presidency. Mzobe will serve in the office of former President Jacob Zuma in the MK Party.

TAKING KEY ROLE AT MK PARTY

In a statement yesterday, spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said MK party leader Jacob Zuma appointed Mzobe immediately. "Magasela will be instrumental in supporting the president in executing his duties and responsibilities. This appointment is also aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the presidency and strengthening the organisation as a whole," said Ndhlela.

RESIGNING FROM THE ANC

Mzobe resigned from the ANC late last year, when the party was on the election campaign trail. In the resignation letter he shared on social media, Mzobe, who was the ANC Youth League leader, said that he could no longer stand or defend the ANC’s policy choices and decisions. "Friends and comrades. I have decided to officially resign from the ANC as I can no longer consciously associate with or defend its decisions and policy choices. To comrades, I met in the ANC, SA Students’ Congress, and the ANCYL, who became my family. I wish our brotherhood and sisterhood were not affected by this decision,” he said at the time. Mzobe ditched the EFF as soon as Zuma announced his affiliation with the MK Party in December last year.

SG BACK AT WORK

Meanwhile the party’s secretary-general, Arthur Zwane, who resigned over a week ago, is back at work after Zuma rejected his resignation. "After receiving and carefully considering Comrade Zwane’s resignation letter, in which he cited an excessive workload from MKP and a desire to focus on private business, President Zuma has nonetheless decided not to accept the resignation,” Ndhlela said. “The president and secretary-general met recently to finalise the details of Zwane’s return to office. Consequently, Zwane is back at work with immediate effect. To further strengthen our internal human capital, Maseko will be transferred to the Human Resources Department within the party, a key component in our efforts to enhance the operations of the organisation, particularly in establishing structures and offices throughout the country,” Ndhlela added.
