Former Advocate Teffo in court for his own sins and represents himself

Former Advocate Teffo was back in the dock but he wasn't representing criminal but himself on charges he says he knows nothing about

Former Advocate Malesela Teffo, who was struck off the roll a few weeks ago, appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court and the irony is that he was not representing any criminals but himself. He is charged with assaulting a female officer, trespassing as well as being in contempt of court amongst other charges.
Teffo, a former advocate in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial is known for being controversial and claiming that the presiding judge over the matter bewitched him.

SOME CASES DATE TO SEVEN YEARS BACK

There are 22 complaints tabled against him and one that stands out is his failure to conduct himself in an ethical manner.
During court proceedings Teffo claimed it was hard for him to proceed with the matter because he did not receive all statements from the state. Teffo told the court that,"I don't know what my charges are, I don't have them  yet. Among the disclosure, I see numerous cases. Cases I know from seven years ago are part of them. It's my guess that the charges against me were never pronounced."

HE WON'T REPRESENT HIMSELF NEXT TIME

He told Magistrate Theunis Carstens that on his next appearance he will be bringing a legal representative. Carstens told Teffo he would know more about his charges during the pretrial conference. Speaking to Zimoja Teffo said he really knew nothing about his charges therefore he cannot make any presentations to his defence unless he is given the charge sheet.
"When I want to find out from the court, the Magistrate with attitude is telling me that I must go and make presentations based on the document that I was given. This is not normal," said Teffo.

UNFAIR TREATMENT

He added that he felt the treatment he was getting from the court was not fair. "This is a perpetual cluster of collision with the police and courts. Hillbrow, Pretoria and Johannesburg are on my case. if this is what we call justice in this country, then there is no justice." Teffo will be back in court on 3 November.
