A man is behind bars after he shot his father dead during a scuffle over a gun. The 22-year-old The community of Mlalazi in the north of KwaZulu Natal is still reeling with shock after a son shot killed his own father for protecting his grandmother he was accused of witchcraft.

TRAUMATIZED

The family of Feletshe Jiyane (51) from the Nkunzempumga village under the Umlalazi area in Eshowe in the north of KZN is still trying to come to terms with this death after he died protecting his mother (80). A relative said that they are still traumatized by what they witnessed on Friday when the son was seen wrestling with his father over a gun when he wanted to kill his grandmother over allegations that she was bewitching his girlfriend that is failing to have children with him. The son’s aunt, Sikhonzile Jiyane said that they are still trying to understand as to what really happened that led to the son wanting to kill the grandmother. "We are still in shock over what was going to his mind when he first attempted to beat up his own grandmother. He was very angry and uncontrollable. Feletshe found his son pushing and shoving the grandmother and he tried to intervene and that is when hell broke loose. The son took his gun out and they began wrestling over it until the trigger went over and it shot him in the chest, and he died there on the scene," she said.

NEARBY CLINIC

Sikhonzile further said that the situation is bad and that the grandmother had to be rushed to a nearby clinic because she became ill after witnessing the murder of her child. "I don’t know how to look at my niece now because what he did is horrible. I wonder how he will explain this to the whole family because as things stand, we want answers as to why he wanted to kill our mother. Which sangoma told him that they were battling to have kids because of our mother? We want answers and I am still shocked by the scene of seeing my brother laying there dead, killed by his own son," she said weepingly. Comment to follow
