Born in Meadowlands, Soweto Goodman Buthelezi and Zakhele Zwane are ready to take kasi entertainment to the next level. The two childhood friends recently launched a club in Dobsonville extension called Extension Lifestyle. Through the establishment, they want to create jobs for kasi youngsters, an opportunity they never had.
?VISIONARIES
After completing their high school, the duo struggled to get jobs and would get promotional gigs from time to time. They got promo jobs in the entertainment industry, pushing alcohol but the money they made would only sustain them to a certain extent and they would find themselves broke again, yet their families were dependent on them. Goodman tells ZiMoja that doing promotions he observed how the clubbing business operated and vowed that one day he would have an establishment of his own. "If there's one thing me and Zakhele have in common, is the need to provide for our families and hunger to succeed. We've knocked on many doors and we're turned away. Nobody believed in us until we started an event called 'The Beard Boys Experience'. We grow our beards so; we came up with products for men to take care of their beards. We would create a musical experience while selling the products and that's how we gained popularity," he said. He added that they would get invited to host events, but club owners would want to pay them with alcohol." We used that opportunity to get exposure and get contacts, Zakhele and I had a solid plan and today we get to live our dream while creating opportunities for other people," said Goodman.
CREATING OPPORTUNITIES
Zakhele said theirs was not an ordinary alcohol establishment, they also have a spa and a kitchen. "We have given two women an opportunity to run their businesses within our establishment. Both ladies have a total of eight employees, and we have 10 staff members who help us run the club. "The ultimate goal is to have franchises in all nine provinces and that way we know we've given back to a lot of communities by creating jobs and alleviating poverty," he said.
