After dedicating 43-years of his life to the African National Congress, Carl Niehaus has officially cut ties with the party. The former spokesman for disbanded uMkhonto Wesizwe was suspended by the ruling party two weeks ago but his membership was not scraped off. Despite him formerly stating that he would appeal his suspension, on Friday morning Niehaus announced that he was resigning as a member of the ruling party.
MISCONDUCT AND UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR
Niehaus, was charged with six counts of misconduct and unacceptable behaviour by the ANC after he publicly made remarks following warrants for the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma for refusing to appear at the state capture inquiry last year in July. "I know there are those who will continue with their cheap Stratcom political propaganda, attempting to undermine the gravitas and importance of this decision by trying to argue I cannot resign from an organisation from which I have been expelled," said Niehaus.
A WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT
He said he instructed his legal representative, Dr Matthews Phosa, to withdraw his appeal."To proceed with my appeal will be illogical and a waste of time and effort. There is also no need for me to subject myself to the continuing farcical kangaroo court of the ANC national disciplinary committee, and by extension the national disciplinary committee of appeal." Niehaus advised comrades who were visionaries and shared the same views as his to also resign from the ANC. "My heart is full. It hurts, but this is something that must be done. We've reached a point of no return after what happened during the last couple of days from the 16th of December until the 20th of December at that farcical conference of the African National Congress."
END GOAL NOT REACHED
Niehaus said the reason he joined the ANC was to see the black South African liberated from racism, economic exploitation and subjugation."However, because of a long history of sellout leaders and betrayal, spies, agents of imperialism and White monopoly Capital, the end goal has never been reached. This is what Chris Hani warned us about and this is why he had to be killed,"said Niehaus.
