In the last season of The Way Ngingakhona, we were introduced to new cast member Elle Khobi from Allenridge, in the Free State. She says it's important to take some time and allow things to fall into place. Elle, who is a transgender woman, is back this season and you can catch her on the reality show on Moja LOVE (DStv).
NOT AN EASY JOURNEY TRANSITIONING
Elle said that life was not easy for her growing up in the Free State. She told Zimoja said that her transition journey took her 10 years. "The journey was not easy to be honest. I took about ten years thinking about it and when I was finally ready I sat down with my sister, who is my confidante and informed her of my decision. She supported me and she still does. I needed to decide whether I was ready or not. At that time i didn't care who says what, I was ready and that is when I started my journey," she said.
JOBURG ALLOWED HER TO BE HERSELF
She said growing up in the Free State life was not easy. "Growing up in the small township it was not easy for me to live my life the way ngingakhona because of societal standards. It was only when I came to Jozi when I was able to become myself and live my life freely," she said, adding that she moved to Jozi in 2008 after her late grandmother passed away. "She was the most amazing women in my life. She advised me to come stay with my sister here," she says.
GOD'S TIMING
EIle recalls how she joined the show. "I remember on Season 3, Tholang called me to come shoot with her because we are from the same.neighbourhood back in the Free State. Honestly, I believe God wanted me to be because after shooting one episode I was in. I believe that was the right timing because I worked very hard and dedicated my life to The Way Ngingakhona." Viewers can expect more about me as I will be taking them through the journey of my life as a transgender woman. "Love is in the air," she enthuses.
