The Manzini Magistrates Court in eSwatini has confirmed that it has received the extradition request from South Africa for the two Ndimande brothers who were arrested in the country in connection with the murders of rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and celebrity chef friend Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane. Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande were arrested by the Royal eSwatini Police Service at an apartment in the country's capital of Mbabane on 24 February.

EXTRADITION REQUEST RECEIVED

State prosecutor Macebo Nxumalo told the court that South Africa has formally requested an extradition of the two suspects with documentation sent on the 18th of March. "We have agreed that the provisional detention order of the cellphones as exhibits be extended until April 9. We, as the state are ready to proceed with the process of extradition. I will have to hear from my learned colleagues on their state of readiness," Nxumalo said.

DEFENCE NEEDS MORE TIME

The appearance of the two was brief and previously the defence of the accused Sivesonke Ngwenya made it clear that even if he receives documents related to the extradition, he will have to go deep into the contents to ensure that they make a proper decision whether to oppose the extradition or not. "We need some time to go through the 256-page document received from South Africa, we also need to consult properly with our clients and the senior council on due processes, "he said. The main issue on the 9th of April, when the matter returns to court ,will be that the defence will or not oppose the extradition, but they will have to explain on what grounds they came to their decision.

OTHER SUSPECTS APPLYING FOR BAIL

Seven suspects, including the Ndimande brothers, were arrested since April last year, less than two months after the murders in Durban. Siyanda Myeza, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, Lindani Ndimande and Lindokuhle Ndimande were arrested in KwaZulu Natal in different areas and they have already appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court for their bail hearing. The matter was postponed for March 27 for continuation of the hearing. The suspects are facing 10 charges including double murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
