Dr Nandipha remanded in custody after brief court appearance

Dr Nandipha Magudumana will spend the weekend in jail

?When she appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court, she had the country's eyes on her. Dr Nandipha Magudumana (34) appeared briefly in court on Thursday afternoon alongside James Dipholo, the man who was arrested on Wednesday in connection to CCTV maintenance in Mangaung Maximum Prison.  

 DOING FINE 

Dressed in a military green jacket with a hoodie, track pants and trainers that she was wearing when she arrived in the country earlier this morning,  Magudumana covered part of her face with the hoodie and a protective mask. She walked into the courtroom slowly, heavily guarded by female police officers. Asked by journalists if she was fine, in a faint voice, she responded: "I am OK"   

CASE POSTPONED  

The matter has been postponed to the 17th of April for bail information and possible bail application. The two accused Magudumana and Dipholo will be appearing alongside her father Dr Zolile Sekeleni and the prison warder who was also involved in Bester's escape on Monday. Magudumana already has a legal representative meanwhile, Dipholo was advised by the magistrate to seek a defence team if he can afford one or apply for legal aid.  

CHARGES

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola explained: "The charges Magudumana will be facing are aiding and abetting the escape Bester. She will also be facing murder for a number of bodies that were found in her possession. Also, violation of bodies and fraud charges."
