The non-arrival of popular amapiano DJ Njelic at a gig in North West on April 1st, was not an April fool's joke. Fans were left disappointed after Njelic, real name Tshwarelo Motlhako, who took the music industry by storm with the hit song Shesha, pulled no-show at Luda Vee's birthday celebration in Brits.
MR PARTY DISAPPOINTED
Njelic was booked to perform at the birthday soirée after a gig he had in Sandton, Johannesburg on the same night of 1st April. His fans missed out on partying to his hit songs like Mudle Mali'Yakhe and Abadeleli. Njelic, was paid an undisclosed amount of money for his performance. According to Mr Party and event organiser Luda Vee, real name Vuyo Moagi, Njelic and his team claimed that they had a tyre puncture on their way to the event. Luda Vee said he sent them a car to please fans who had paid to be at the event. But when his driver arrived where Njelic and his crew were, they allegedly locked themselves inside the car and refused to open for more than an hour. "My driver waited for an hour for them to open the car while they were deciding whether they were coming or not, mind you they were just 61 km away from the venue' he says. Luda Vee told ZiMoja that Njelic's road manager Bravo told the driver that Njelic was not in the 'mood'. He says what's even more annoying is the fact that his driver left the gig and drove about an hour to attend to them in an attempt to save his event.
PAY BACK THE MONEY
He says Njelic is unprofessional and doesn't take his career seriously. "They didn't come to my event because they were drunk, now people who paid to come see him perform want their refund with some going to my mother's house to demand their money,' added Luda. He says he has lost interest in hosting events because of people like Njelic. "I will do whatever it takes to get my cash back,'.
APOLOGY
Njelic apologised to the event organiser, five days after his no show. In a letter to the hosts, he said: "Making our way to Brits, from a gig in Sandton, a nail pierced our tyre, which resulted in a slow puncture. "We drove to the nearest garage with the hope that we'd get some help, only to find the tyre repair guy had knocked off and we communicated with the event organisers and we advised that he would be kept up to date with our progress. We drove 10km to get to the garage. That's when we noticed the tyre had torn from the inside. He said he sent communication and pictures to the event promoter, explaining his situation," Njelic's statement read partly. "I would like to deeply apologise to the promoters and my fans who were looking forward to listening to Njelic. When I go out on a performance, I always give 100%. And on that day, I don't think I would have given my all if I had persisted in doing the show. I would love to apologise to everyone who was inconvenienced by this. I hope you understand," he said in an apology penned by Auto TwoGent Entertainment.
