Former popular Ukhozi FM DJ, Sbusiso Buthelezi, is a homeless man. The radioman was forced to sell his posh house in Umhlanga, north of Durban in KwaZulu Natal and squats with friends following harassment from his creditors.
OWING MILLIONS
Buthelezi is said to be owing a number of people millions of Rands following his Abombuso Investment Scheme that went wrong. The poultry scheme that came in different packages allowed investors to sell chickens and eggs, promising 100 percent returns after three months. He is now hunted by investors and sheriffs who want the money back on behalf of their clients.
IN HIDING
A reliable source close to him told ZiMoja that Buthelezi decided it was best to go into hiding as the people he owed knew where he stayed and were harassing him at his house. "He felt unsafe as many victims of the pyramid scheme were baying for his blood. He knew he had to leave his house. He now sleeps at different friends' places. He doesn't have a stable place, he does this to avoid being found," a source added. "Nobody knows where he is. People want their money back. Some are even threatening to kill him," added another source.
VICTIMS BAYING FOR HIS BLOOD
His victims say they will not rest until he pays them their money back. A victim who did not want to reveal his name says Buthelezi owed him more than R100 000 he invested in his scheme. He said because the sheriff and the people who demanded their money back kept harassing him, he decided to sell his house and run. "We will not rest until we get our money. We will hunt him until we find him. He lived a lavish lifestyle out of our sweat," said the victim. Another victim, Sibusiso Madlala, who invested R1000 in Buthelezi's scheme, said he was promised a 100% return after three months, but that never happened. He said; instead, they watch Buthelezi getting richer and richer. "I invested R1000 because I did not want to lose a lot of money if the scheme turned out to be a scam. Indeed my gut feeling was correct. The scheme turned out to be a fraud," Madlala said. The former gospel presenter who hosted a popular show called Indumiso on Sundays on Ukhozi FM was dismissed by the station last year following several allegations relating to his doggy business dealings. The station accused him of bringing the organisation into disrepute. When called for comment Buthelezi aggressively said: "I have nothing to say to you,"
