‘Death threats and harassment' - Ngizwe Mchunu accuses IFP members of abuse

Controversial former radio personality Ngizwe Mchunu says he is not easily intimidated

Former Ukhozi FM radio DJ Ngizwe Mchunu cannot seem to stay away from controversy. This time, he claims to be receiving death threats from Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) members after he lambasted the party for hosting their Siyanqoba Rallies in 2023. The IFP has had numerous Siyanqoba Rallies since they won most municipalities in the 2021 and 2022 bi-elections in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The results from the 2021 local government elections saw the ANC being unseated in most municipalities in KZN.

INTIMIDATION

In a video shared on social media, Mchunu is heard addressing people and telling the IFP supporters to stop threatening him because he is not easily intimidated. "Whatever you are trying to do to me won't work. I find myself being called by many IFP supporters from different hostels in South Africa, threatening to kill me. They are telling me that I should say my final goodbye to my children," he says. "I want them to know that they are dogs, and I will fu**them up. I also know that Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi can never be part of that.' In the video, he goes on to say that he was disappointed with those that threaten him because of his opposing views. "Haibo! Please take your time and look at me. I'm not easily shaken,' he adds.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Mchunu further says that the IFP does not want to be held accountable, instead they threaten to kill anyone who has an opinion about what is happening in the country. "I'm disappointed! I will take all the calls and the numbers that were calling me and hand them over to Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and bow down before him as the Prime Minister of the Zulu nation and inform him of what is happening." He says, there were a lot of good things that he said about the IFP like booking artists to perform and being able to feed their families but they are looking passed those.

IFP RESPONDS?

In response to Mchunu's allegations, IFP Member of Parliament Mkhuleko Hlengwa tells ZiMoja that, "Just like what you told Khuzani Mpungose [ Maskandi artist] that the IFP is very respectful and by this of course with respect, I would like you to extend an invitation to allow you to speak more about how you stood us up when we had booked and paid you in upfront in Mandlankala area outside Esikhaleni and you took our money and went to MC at an ANC rally and never paid us back,' Hlengwa says.

Mchunu is currently out on bail on the charges of being an instigator during the 2021 July Unrest. He also nearly exchanged blows with former KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala during a Maskandi event at the Moses Mabhida stadium last year.
