Although season one of Shaka iLembe broke screen records, it comes as no surprise that the show is being followed by drama, as it shoots season two. It has now emerged that a week or two ago there was an alleged incident of food poisoning on the productions set.

PRODUCTION MUM ABOUT THE INCIDENT  

ZiMoja understands that the unfortunate incident left two members of the production team dead. "An assistant make-up artist is also dead as a result of the food poisoning incident that left the entire production cast and crew reeling in shock. The second person’s name hasn’t been made known just yet," a source close to the situation, said.  The source also shared how this incident was being kept hush hush from the prying eyes of the media, as "there’s already too much drama that can comprise the success of the second season." "This incident hasn’t been kept under wraps, so that not much attention is drawn to it, because of the negative publicity the second season has gotten so far," the insider revealed, adding that while the first season enjoyed rave reviews and broke viewership records, "producers fear the worst."

BIG NAME PANIC

The show’s success for the first season can be attributed to the big names such as Thembinkosi Mthembu, Vusi Kunene, Nomzamo Mbatha, Kabonina Qubeka and many others, has in recent months made tabloid fodder for various reasons, but the latest scandal has apparently left everyone in panic, fearing that the second season won’t be do as well as the first. "Everyone is panicking, especially the big names that made the show a success. It’s bad, everyone hopes that the show is not highly affected," concluded the well-placed source. However, Mzansi Magic’s publicity manager, Portia Hlongwane denied that such an incident took place, saying "there was no incident of food poisoning on the set of Shaka ILembe."
