Crystal meth worth R6million found inside pool table at OR Tambo International

Police discovered drugs that were headed for Australia

In an intelligence driven operation, the police discovered R6million worth of Crystal meth hidden in a wooden pool table destined for import at a warehouse at OR Tambo International Airport. 


MANHUNT 


SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said no arrests have been made and the police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.

"Police were following up on intelligence when they made the discovery of the drugs, which were allegedly destined for Australia. Police are following all leads to determine the origin of the drugs in SA, as well as who delivered the consignment for import."



BE WARNED


The National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola has commended the vigilance and swift reaction of various police units stationed at the Airport.

"Police at OR Tambo International Airport continue to intercept drug traffickers and large consignment of drugs almost every week. Their vigilance and dedication is applauded. These drug busts should continue to send a stern warning to all drug traffickers and drug cartels that police are on high alert at Africa’s largest port of entry," said General Masemola
