The community of Illovu in the south of Durban in KwaZulu Natal (KZN) is reeling with shock after a neighbour is alleged to have raped his neighbour and stabbed her.
THE INCIDENT
The incident happened on Monday morning where a neighbour and girl (17) were alone at home when she was attacked and raped before she was stabbed. According to neighbours who wished not to be named, the neighbour has since run away from his house after he committed the crime. "The father who is a teacher by profession was sleeping in his room when he heard a screaming. When he woke and went to investigate, he found the nighbour on top of his daughter and she was already bleeding. The managed to jump and ran off. The teacher than had to rush his daughter in hospital, when he realizes that the types had punctures. The teacher than asked for help in another neighbour who was able borrow him their car.

HOSPITAL
"On his way to the hospital in Amanzimtoti, he was stopped by the police and a search was conducted on the car and they found a stabbed daughter. The police immediately took the father and his neighbour for questioning, but they were released. It also emerged that while they were taking them in questioning the daughter passed away. This led to the angry community to set the neighbour?s on fire last night. The angry mob decided to burn down that the house because they thought that the neighbour was hiding their son," the neighbour said. The neighbour said that during their investigation, it emerged that the parents always protected the boy after committed the crimes around the area. KZN Saps Spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the incident.
"Police in Amanzimtoti are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which a body of a 17-year-old girl was allegedly found wrapped with a blanket in a vehicle at the corner of Kingsway and Ocean View roads on 26 February 2024. Her body had multiple stab wounds. Inside the vehicle were two men who claimed that they were rushing the deceased to hospital," he said.
