Europa night club in Pretoria has been caught under fire for encouraging tertiary students to spend their NSFAS allowance recklessly at their establishment. NSFAS funds are meant to aid students in need with essentials. The club shared a post on social media with the tagline " NSFAS INGENILE," insinuating that student can come blow up their allowance. The club has since removed this post following a backlash from NSFAS, who condemned this behaviour.

LEGAL ACTION
NSFAS has since threatened to take legal action against the night club and hold them accountable for their advert.NSFAS's board chairperson Ernest Khosa along with other board members visited the lounge to discuss their disturbing content."This reckless behaviour not only perpetuates undue use of the NSFAS allowance by its beneficiaries, however, it also counters the efforts by the scheme to instil financial responsibility to its beneficiaries," it said.Khosa added, "The allowances disbursed to NSFAS beneficiaries is intended to help students from poor backgrounds with food, transport (where necessary), learning material, and other living expenses.
IT'S NOT US
The club responded by saying they do not condone such events. "There is a flyer in circulation promoting an event at Europa regarding a student financial aid scheme, no event of such nature is happening on our premises. We sincerely apologise to our customers and various stakeholders affected by the unauthorised marketing."
