Boy murdered and mutilated to teach family a lesson

The Shange family is devastated after their seven-year-old boy was mutilated to teach the family a lesson

For days, Philasande Shange's family looked for him everywhere after he went missing while on his way to a tuckshop. They had hoped to find the seven-year-old boy well and alive. But all they found was Philasande's leg, head and a message warning them to leave their village.

DEVASTATING TEXT

On Sunday, the family from Ntshawini in Stanger, KwaZulu-Natal received a text from an untraceable number informing them on where they can find Philasande's body. His aunt Sinenhlanhla Shange said they went to the area to search for the body. The message further informed us that they killed Philasande to teach us a lesson. We don't know who has a grudge against our family," she said. "The text further said Philasande was murdered to teach us a lesson. It further ordered us to leave our village, " Shange said. She told ZiMoja that her family has no idea on who would want to hurt them like this"It's difficult to pinpoint who would have done thisbecause most of our neighbours don't get along with us,"

SHOCKING DISCOVERY

After searching for an hour with the help of the community and police, the Shange family discovered the boy's leg and head. The family says all they want is all the boy's body parts so they could give him a decent funeral. "That text said to the rest of Philasande's body parts that were sold in Mozambique, we don't know what to believe anymore. All we want is justice for my nephew because the people who did this horrible deed did it to punish us, the boy didn't deserve it," she added. KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident. "Police in KwaDukuza have opened a case of murder following the discovery of human body parts in a stream and bushes in Ntshawini area on Sunday. The body parts are suspected to be of a seven-year-old boy who reportedly went missing on Thursday. The search for the missing body parts continues  and investigations are underway to ascertain the true identity of the recovered body parts as well as the possible cause of death," he said.
