After the death of Mampintsha on December 24 last year, Kwaito group Big Nuz has been left with a single member, Danger, real name Mzingisi Tshomela. In an attempt to save the Big Nuz brand from dying, Danger has approached one of its founding members, Bhar to save the group.
LOSING GROUP MEMBERS
The group, which was formed in Umlazi, Durban, by four childhood friends Mampintsha, R Mashesha, Danger and Bhar in 2002 made a name for itself with hits like Umlilo and Serious. Bahr, real name Sfiso Mshengu, left the group while it was still trying to secure a record deal in Johannesburg in the early 2000s. First, the group lost R Mashesha whose real name is Sibusiso Khomo in 2015 from a reported throat surgery complication. He was followed by Mampintsha, real name Mandla Maphumulo who died in December last year after suffering a stroke.
GOING BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD
This week, a source close to ZiMoja says that DJ Tira and Danger have gone back to the drawing board, trying to revive the group. "Remember that when Big Nuz relocated to Durban, they worked with DJ Tira in bangers like Uyoyisholo Wena and one of their biggest hits Umlilo. Danger is said to have approached Bhar to be part of Big Nuz in reviving the group. The source says the only snag is that Bhar and DJ Tira are not on good terms and have not been getting along for many years.
?BHAR WANTS TIRA TO APOLOGISE FIRST
The source says: "The beef dates back years ago. Bhar made it clear that he won't bow down to DJ Tira because he feels that the deejay owes him an apology. "If you have noticed, Bhar has been on the sidelines when it comes to the entertainment industry in Durban and KwaZulu-Natal as a whole because he is enemies with one of the most influential people that side. And that powerful and influential person is DJ Tira,' the source said. The source says plans for Big Nuz reloaded will depend on whether Bhar agrees or not to work with DJ Tira. "Bhar has a good heart. I doubt he will turn down the offer of working with Danger and producing his music or featuring in the album it,' adds the source. Despite not getting gigs to perform in KZN, Bhar has released a hit song, Uthando, where he featured Lombo on vocals. The song was produced by Durban hit-maker, Sir Bubzin. Another source says Danger is trying his best to save the legacy of Big Nuz and he knows the only person who will make it work, is the original founding member, Bhar. The source said: "Bhar is talented, but he is also an underrated musician. He will bring back Big Nuz to its former glory days if differences with DJ Tira is resolved,' added the source. Danger refused to comment while DJ Tira could not be reached.
