He was being bullied by older boys at the school and no one did anything about it. When 14-year-old learner was chased out of class by a teacher because he didn't have a tie, this allegedly pushed him to suicide.
SUICIDE
Ntando Madlala from Ntshawini in Stanger in the northern KwaZulu Natal was found hanging from the roof in his room last Wednesday by his brother Nkanyiso Ngcobo. Ntando was a learner at Tshelenkosi High school where he was allegedly bullied by older boys. In a recent incident, a teacher chased him out of class pushed him to apparently end his life. Nkanyiso said his brother told him about the bullying and that no one was willing to help him and he promised to deal with the matter the next day. But Ntando ended his life before his brother could get him help.
BEING BULLIED
According to Nkanyiso, Ntando's suicide came after a teacher asked him to vacate his class because he did not have a school tie. "My brother informed me about the abuse he was going through at school. He told me that older learners were always picking on him and bullied him a lot. On the day he was chased out of class, he said he was assaulted and mocked inside the school bathroom," Nkanyiso said. Nkanyiso told ZiMoja that the older boys said some horrible things to his brother when he went to the bathroom after he was chased out of class. "He said they took his school bag and threw it inside the toilet. I told him to calm down and that we will sort this matter out in the morning, but I guess I was too late," Nkanyiso said.

Nkanyiso said he was out of words and could not explain the pain of losing his brother "This could have been avoided if someone listened to Ntando at school and took action against the bullies. The teacher also made things worse by kicking him out of class for a mere school tie. We need answers as the family," he added. Attempts to get comments from the School Governing Body proved fruitless as they refused to speak to Zimoja regarding the matter. KZN Department of Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi confirmed the incident. "We would like to send our condolences to the family of the learner. The department is investigating the person who may be responsible for the learner's death. Once we are done with our investigation, we will take proper action," he said.
