Baby Bogabo's alleged killer abandons bail

Ntokozo has abandoned bail

Four-year old Bogabo Poo's killer has abandoned bail. Ntokozo Zikhali (28) from Brakpan appeared at the Benoni Magistrates Court where he abandoned his bail application. Zikhali is charged with kidnapping, rape, murder, and violation of the corpse of a Bokgabo. It is alleged that on 10 October, the girl had gone to play with a 5-year-old boy at a park in Wattville, Benoni, when they were approached by Zikhali.

LURING THE DECEASED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION

The accused gave the little boy money to go buy lollipops and lured the deceased to an unknown location. Later that day, the parents of the deceased reported the child missing to the police.  The next day in the morning, while a woman from the neighbourhood was sweeping her yard, she came across a human leg, she alerted a neighbour and they contacted the police.

CCTV FOOTAGE

As part of the investigation, CCTV footage from a nearby tavern was discovered, which showed the deceased walking with Zikhali, on the day of her disappearance.  The footage was circulated on social media, and when Zikhali discovered the existence of the footage, he allegedly fled Boksburg. This is when he was identified by a petrol attendant who later alerted the police. Zikhali was arrested on the 14th of October.

WHERE ARE THE REST OF THE PARTS

Zikhali was out on bail on another matter, where he is facing a charge of raping a nine-year-old girl. During his previous court appearance  the state informed the court of its intention to bring an application to the court to have Zikhali's bail revoked.  On Monday the state informed the court that, it will no longer bring the application since the accused will be remanded in custody since he abandoned his bail application.  It has not been easy for the parents of the deceased. The father keeps on asking the accused to reveal where  he hid the remaining parts of Bogabo's body. Bogabo was buried on the 6th of November. Both matters were adjourned to 14 February 2023, for further investigations.
