SA's fashion God David Tlale has been conferred with an honorary doctorate in Arts and Design by the Tshwane University of Technology for his impact in the fashion world. The Vosloorus-born fashion designer who studied Fashion and Technology at the Vaal University of Technology accepted the accolade on stage during a graduation ceremony.
ONCE A LECTURER
Tlale, who is a former lecturer at Vaal University, specialising in Computer Aided Design, Creative Design, and Pattern Grading took to his Instagram page to write a heartfelt message of gratitude to the university and dedicated his doctorate to his mother, family, and friends, the media and the country. He said the university's gesture humbled him." I dedicate this doctorate to my mom Joyce, my family, my friends, the media and my beautiful country South Africa. To my team, thank you. God, Your grace is sufficient for me," he wrote.

Tlale first grabbed the country's attention in 2003 when he won the Elle New Talent at SA Fashion Week and simultaneously launched the brand David Tlale.
