With his entourage, Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes was having the best time of his life as his 35th birthday celebrations continued. On Friday, the rapper posted different videos and photos of him and his friends as he prepared for his performance at one of Durban's swanky night clubs named Yugo on Florida Road in Morningside, Durban.?
LAST HOURS ALIVE?
Hours before his death a cheerful Forbes and his friends including his longtime ally and celebrity chef Tebello' Tibz' Motsoane were seen enjoying what seemed like a boy's weekend away. The gang posted a few snaps and videos of themselves getting haircuts at popular Legend barbershop followed by drinks and early dinner at Wish restaurant. As they made a toast, a jovial Forbes said: "Where I go, you go, " and the friends burst into laughter. An eyewitness who spoke to ZiMoja said Forbes and his friends were having the time of their lives on Florida road earlier on Friday. The rapper also hung out with DJ Mahoota who also had a gig in Durban. "I saw them around Cubana, and we thought Durban was gonna be on fire, little did we know it would end in tears' the witness said.
THE SHOOTING
AKA and Motsoane were hanging outside the restaurant after having their supper at a restaurant when they were approached by two gunmen from across the road. The KZN provincial SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the deceased were walking towards their car from a restaurant when they were allegedly approached by two armed suspects who shot at them at close range. According to witnesses the suspects ran from the scene on foot leaving behind AKA and his longtime friend lying in the pool of their own blood. "Both victims were declared dead at the scene."
THE KILLERS ARE COMMUNITY MEMBERS?
In a statement on Saturday, the ANC in KwaZulu Natal said what was sad was the fact that the heartless murderer is a friend of someone. "Most of all, the murderer is a community member. We are encouraging anyone with information to cooperate with law enforcement agencies,' the statement said. "It is a fact that some of those who are involved in such crimes are known by certain community members. We must not allow one individual to disgrace all of us as peace-loving South Africans,' the statement said.
HELP POLICE CAPTURE THE KILLERS ?
Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating two counts of murder, and no one has been arrested as yet. The police say the motive for the killing that left Mzansi stunned is not yet known and their investigations are ongoing. Netshiunda said the police are pleading with anyone who may have information to come forward in the investigation and lead to the apprehension of the suspects to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop.
