Following her wrongful arrest in 2016, actress Linda Sebezo says she still wants answers as to why she was wrongfully arrested for drug possession. Sebezo tells Zimoja that she still wants answers as to why she spent three months in prison on allegations that she was in possession of drugs. "Up until this day I don't know why I was arrested and later found myself in Sun City for three months in 2016," she says.
COPS EVERYWHERE WITH SIRENS
Sebezo says she remembers very well as it was New Years Eve in 2016 when all of a sudden she felt like taking a nap before all hell broke loose. "I told my grandmother that I was taking a nap. I had a hunch that something bad was going to happen. While I was asleep, I heard the biggest knock on the door and when I opened, there were cops everywhere in our yard with sirens," she recalls.
THEY SAID THEY FOUND COCAINE
They had a search warrant and searched the whole yard. "We then went to the old storeroom where they said they found found cocaine and on the spot they told me they were arresting me. I spent three months in jail but one day the magistrate decided to tell me that I didn't need to come to court anymore as I was free. Until this day I really don't know the person who bailed me out because on the day was released, i never saw anyone who paid for my freedom. I was told to go home.
FREE AT LAST
Sebezo said being wrongfully arrested still pains her. "I have accepted what happened and I am grateful that I came back to the.community, worked my way back to my passion, which is acting. At some stage I spent a year without being employed anywhere because nobody wanted to touch me.I decided to go back ekasi and start afresh, doing those theatre shows that were paying me peanuts," she concludes.
