Action SA KwaZulu Natal Chairperson Zwakele Mncwango has come out guns blazing and accused the eThekwini municipality of funding the recent Provincial ANC Women’s League Elective Conference that was held in Durban’s International Convention Centre (ICC) in KwaZulu Natal two weeks ago.
PROOF AND ANSWERS
On Tuesday, an angry Mngcwango wrote to the provincial Secretary General of the ANC in KZN, Bheki Mtolo requesting that the party in KZN provide proof and answer to the allegations that it submitted an invoice to the eThekwini municipality under the Department of the Governance and International Relations under an impression that the city hosted an event called "Woman’s Month Launch".
BOGUS EVENT
It is alleged that the number of people who attended the bogus event that was staged in the same ICC in Durban on the same date that was used to host the ANCWL Elective Conference was 1350 people. "I have emailed both Mtolo and the eThekwini municipality demanding answers on the said Women’s event because the ANCWL Conference had no funders now they have made fraudulent invoices to try and get funds to pay the ICC. I want them to come clean because we have obtained proof that the municipality has been given 30 days to pay ICC. This is wrong and they can’t be using taxpayers money to fund their activities. Failure to produce and continue processing this fraudulent invoice will result in us going to court. We cannot allow people to do as they please," he said.
EMAILS
ZiMoja is in possession of the copies of an email that was sent to Mtolo and eThekwini municipality where he was demanding answers on the alleged funding. Mngcwango further revealed that the contractual agreement between eThekwini municipality and ICC reflects an order number of over R5 million which will cover all costs for the entirety of the conference. "The municipality further extended the so-called Woman’s Month Launch by an extra day exactly like it happened during the ANCWL elective conference. We are no fools and if they think they will get away with it, they must think again. We are watching them very closely," he said. Waiting on the comments from Mtolo and the eThekwini Municipality spokesperson.....
