Police had responded to reports of a victim who was robbed at Esikhaleni by suspects who fled the scene. KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said that the police traced four suspects and cornered them in the Ncombo area. "At the sight of police blue lights, the suspects opened fire towards the police, triggering a response from the men of law. One suspect was shot and killed in the resultant shootout while the other three fled into the bushes," Netshiunda said.
POLICE OFFICERS INJURED DURING THE SHOOTOUT
Netshiunda said that a search for the rest of the suspects is still underway. "The deceased suspect was found in possession of a 38 special revolver firearm with five rounds of ammunition. Two police officers were injured during the shootout," he said. The deceased adds to the 15 most wanted criminals who were shot and killed in July by KZN SAPS.
