Zulu regiments want KZN ANC chairperson to pay 100 cows for 'embarrassing' Zulu prime minister

Zulu regiments wants Siboniso Duma to pay 100 cows as a fine for grabbing a mic from Zulu prime minister

Zulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini's commander of izinduna (chiefs), Sipho Mhlongo, has responded to the mic-grabbing incident by ANC KwaZulu Natal chairperson Siboniso Duma on Saturday.

THE INCIDENT

Duma caused a stir on Saturday during the 110th commemoration of King Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo in Ulundi when he grabbed a microphone from the Zulu traditional Prime Minister, Dr Thulasizwe Buthelezi, who is also a mayor for Zululand District Municipality.

In a video that went viral on social media over the weekend, Duma was seen grabbing the microphone from Buthelezi who was giving a speech. At the time, Buthelezi was bashing the ANC KZN secretary-general Bheki Mtolo, whom he accused of not respecting his position as the prime minister appointed by the King himself. Duma who is also the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in KZN, went as far as instructing Buthelezi to sit and down before he welcomed Misuzulu as per protocol.

AMABUTHO WANT DUMA TO PAY A FINE

Mhlongo said that if it were up to them, they would fine Duma 100 cows for his 'embarrassing' behaviour. "What happened in KwaCeza was distasteful. We also note the same shame brought to President Cyril Ramaphosa, our Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, our Prime Minister Thulasizwe Buthelezi who was appointed by Isilo. There is no crime if someone wakes up and realises their wrong and pleads for forgiveness. You don't ask for forgiveness at the royal house empty handed. You present cows and based on Duma's wrong doings, we demand that he pays 100 hundred cows to seek forgiveness," said Mhlongo. Mhlongo apologised to ANC members after it further emerged that IFP members beat their opposition members for wearing ANC regalia at the event.
