Zulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini has dismissed claims that he was poisoned and that he was being treated at a hospital in Eswatini. This comes after the Zulu Monarch Prime Minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi released a statement over the weekend saying the King was rushed to Eswatini following suspected poison.
"IGNORE THE RUMORS"
In a video shared on social media, Misuzulu refuted the report. He explained that he was in his uncle’s Kingdom for a mere routine medical check-up. "That is why the move was to Eswatini, it’s not because maybe I have been poisoned. I am not poisoned, I am well, I feel I am 100 percent, I am happy, everything is well functioning, and there is nothing wrong with me. There is no poison whatsoever," the King said. The King added: "So please, people, mostly to the Zulu people, the Zulu royal family also, to just remind everyone that please don’t listen to everything the people say. It is just these allegations that have been made that my right-hand man was poisoned, I don’t know that," said the King.
CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS
Shortly after Buthelezi’s statement, the royal family spokesperson, Prince Africa Zulu issued a contradictory statement, saying the leader of the Zulu nation is fine. "His Majesty wishes to once again reassure the nation that he remains in perfect health and is not currently admitted at any hospital. His Majesty frequently pays courtesy visits to Eswatini to go see his uncle, His Majesty King Mswati. The office of the King felt it prudent that during this visit, the King should undergo a thorough medical examination while there.
BUTHELEZI HITTING BACK AT PRINCE AFRIKA
Prince Buthelezi hit back at Prince Africa saying that he was the one who approached the Swatis in particular HRH Prince Vumile asking them to assist so that his Majesty could leave Kwa-Zulu Natal at night to urgently seek medical attention in Eswatini. "It goes without saying that the subject of his Majesty’s health is always a sensitive matter. However, in light of the media and public spectacle that has transpired since my announcement, and the fact that I have been accused of habouring an agenda and having orchestrated bad news, I must set the record straight. His Majesty received medical attention at eZulwini Private Hospital on Saturday 1 July and the doctors who attended to him are known. ,†read the statement."
