King Misuzulu kaZwelithini fires his spokesperson

King Misuzulu kaZwelithing with his brother and former spokesperson Prince Afrika Zulu

Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has fired his brother Prince Afrika Zulu as his spokesperson. In a letter seen by ZiMoja dated 12 February 2024 and addressed to KwaZulu Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube and Afrika, Misuzulu did not divulge his reasons for axing Afrika.

THE LETTER

In a statement, the King said: "This letter serves as formal notice that I, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini hereby terminate your appointment as the Head of Communications and Stakeholder Relations to my office and myself with immediate effect. I furthermore hereby revoke any powers granted to you in your role as my spokesperson and Royal Agent which includes the powers to ensure that such communication and stakeholder relations are managed efficiently and effectively and effectively on my behalf and on behalf of the Royal family and the Zulu Nation," the letter reads.

NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK TO THE MEDIA

The letter further said that from the date of correspondence, all communication of Isilo and of the royal family will be coordinated, managed and authorised by the Zulu Prime Minister Dr Thulasizwe Buthelezi. "In light of what has been aforesaid, you are hereby necessitated to cease and desist to communicate with any third party with special reference to the media on any platform on behalf of myself, the royal family or the Zulu nation," the statement further said. Last year, a statement on the king firing Prince Afrika was shared on social media and the royal house said it was fake. At the time, Afrika said the people who wanted him fired where those who wanted to capture the king. "I know these people and their agenda, they lied to the king about me and made me look like someone who is here to destroy him or make money out of him. People forget that I am not here for any gain, and I am not being paid for being a spokesperson. I volunteer my services because I love my nation and my king," Afrika said in an interview. Attempts to get comment from Prince Afrika proved fruitless as his phone rang unanswered.
