Ukhozi FM presenter and author Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule is back home after spending over two weeks in hospital after falling sick live on air during her gospel show Eshilo. The popular radio show host was rushed to hospital after experiencing shortness of breath earlier this month.
LUNG CANCER DIAGNOSIS
Mbokazi (53) who is married to eSwatini-born Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule was diagnosed with lung cancer soon after her hospital admission and had to undergo a minor surgery. The news of her diagnosis was confirmed by her husband to her fans on Facebook. The Bishop said Mbokazi was taken to theatre for surgery to see what the problem could be, and the doctors diagnosed her with lung cancer. "I love Zanele Mbokazi for her unbreakable spirit amid any challenges. Even this sickness will bow in Jesus' mighty name." Nkambule said. In a Facebook post yesterday, Mbokazi said she had visited a church she grew up at with her parents. "My body is weak, but I am singing a new song. No place like home," she said.
SHE IS GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT
Mbokazi's PR manager Nonjabulo Mdluli confirmed that the broadcaster was discharged last weekend and is doing well at home with her family. "Zanele returned from hospital over the past weekend. She is currently at home with her family. Yesterday, she visited her parents' home in Thornwood, Dassenhoek for a special prayer with the Catholic church, where she grew up,' Mdluli said. Mdluli also added that Zanele is energised, and encouraged by prayer, preaching, and worship. "Her unstoppable faith in God keeps her strong,' Mbokazi, who has been in the broadcast industry for over 25 years, is one of the pioneers in the media industry. Over 10 years ago, she started the Crown Gospel Music Awards, which are held annually at the end of November.
