Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali lost his mother on the first day of the year. The Nigerian goalkeeper shared the news on his social media account on New Year's Day.
LOSS OF BOTH PARENTS IN A SHORT SPAN
On Wednesday evening, he shared a cryptic message stating, "A very, very crazy world indeed." Shortly thereafter, he expressed his grief with the words, "Rip, mom, this is the worst year of my life already." The Afcon silver medallist had previously lost his father in November, a loss he also communicated via social media. His initial post read, "RIP Dad," followed by a heartfelt message that included "Rest in heaven," accompanied by a broken heart emoji and a candle.
CONDOLENCE
The announcement of Nwabali's mother's passing came just hours after he had shared a positive message regarding Chippa United and the Super Eagles. In a post made on New Year's Eve, he stated on his X account, "2024 was a good year, we're doubling everything in 2025. Thank you @ChippaUnitedFC, thank you @ng_supereagles, and thanks to all my fans. Let's do more!!" Many of his 120,000 followers quickly offered their condolences to the Nigerian goalkeeper. His club also expressed their sympathies, stating, "We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to Stanley Nwabali and his family following the passing of his beloved mother. We kindly request that everyone respect Stanley's privacy during this difficult time." The 28-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper joined Chippa United in 2022. Following an outstanding performance during the 2023 African Cup of Nations, Nwabali earned a silver medal with the Super Eagles, subsequently attracting interest from various teams worldwide, including Kaizer Chiefs.
