He is young, stylish and talented. Award-winning actor and model Wiseman Zitha shares with ZiMoja how he turns cold Jozi days into a winter wonderland. 

A STYLISH COAT

Wiseman says beating back mother nature’s slushy onslaught needs a stylish, yet classic coat and a really good casual coat also. "A trench or overcoat is always a good item to have. Instead of the usual black, we can go for daring colours like bright green or red. If you want to keep it classic but fashionable, an earthy brown with wide shoulders. You obviously, want that thick, in a warm fabric. Stay far away from the venerable peacoat."

A GOOD MOISTURISER

It’s always a good idea to stay hydrated both inside and out by drinking lots of liquids, especially during the winter. Wiseman says, for him a good moisturiser also helps to keep his skin glowing even in winter. "I am from Venda, it’s dry and I am used to drinking lots of water and hydrating my skin," he says. "People tend to neglect their skin in winter when they should be taking care of it even more than summer. I love a good moisturiser and a serum to keep me glowing," he says. "I work out a lot in winter to build up for the summer, so my skin and workout regime go hand in hand."

BANGING BOOTS

Footwear selection is important this week. The hunter boot, cowboy, chukka, Chelsea and dress boot are timeless classics. Wiseman says men have been more daring in footwear this winter. "A lot of men are still reluctant of wearing boots with a thick heel. They tend to keep it simple. But we are going painted, thick block heels and pointy fronts. We are going all out with the boots and some have brought back the good old cowboy boot. But, a winter essential is a great pair of boots, ideally one for every day of the cold week."

A GOOD SCENT

Wiseman says smelling good throughout all seasons can enhance your mood. "Sometimes the cold winter can make one feel down. I like to smell good in all situations. Currently, my favourite scent is Azzaro, it’s woody, aromatic, and spicy. I just love it. Having a good cologne is number one."

PLAY AROUND WITH TROUSERS

As a stylish man, one needs to keep it fresh and show variety in our wardrobe choices. Unlike summer, where the gents wear bright colours and patterns, the colder months come with a different story. Wiseman advises on a good pair of pants. "There are the wool-blend suit pants with a thick fabric, they keep you warm. There are the classic Corduroy pants. Some find these old fashion, but they are back. Get a pair of well-fitting, slim-legged cords- thank me later."
