The family of a well-known Eastern Cape poet Daluxolo Hoho who was shot and killed outside his home wants those who are behind his murder behind bars.

SHOT WHILE FIXING HIS CAR

Hoho who is a former SABC's Umhlobo Wenene radio employee, was shot twice in the head outside his home in Khayelitsha in Cape Town, Western Cape on Tuesday evening while he was fixing his car. Hoho's murder comes days after he took to social media and shared a series of videos claiming he had been supporting a child that he believed was his for seven years only to be told that he was not the father. In the videos where he is seen crying, the poet spoke about how his baby mama, a gospel singer took away their 7-year-old daughter and claimed that the child was not his. Nosipho Daniels who was very close to Hoho told ZiMoja that the news of his murder was shocking. "It is shocking because he had no known enemies. He was just a guy who was going through a lot in his life and did not deserve to be killed like a thug," Daniels said.

HIS FAMILY LIVING IN FEAR

Days before his murder, the court ordered Hoho to remove the videos and social media posts he made about his alleged baby mama after she took the matter to court saying she was defamed in the posts. Daniels told ZiMoja that the issue about the baby not being his sent him straight to depression. "Weeks before his murder, things went from bad to worse especially after the baby mama had told him that the child was not his. He invested his time into the DNA issue and it even got him into trouble with the law. We don't know why he was gunned down because the killers never took anything from him," she said. Hoho's sister Zanele Hoho refused to comment citing that they were now living in fear as they didn't know the reasons behind her brother's killing. "It is best for us to let the cops do their job. We hope that the people who are behind this will be found soon," she said.
