Three people were shot dead including a student in a drive by shooting in Braamfontein, Johannesburg this afternoon. Another student was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds after he was caught by a stray bullet.
It's alleged that two taxi drivers were seated in a stationery black BMW when unknown gunmen pulled up and open fire at them. The three people were declared dead on the scene. Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed the incident. "It is reported that in the afternoon, unknown suspects shot two men who were inside a parked vehicle and during the shooting a university bus was also caught in the crossfire leading to two students being shot. Both the men in the vehicle and one student were declared dead while the other student was taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment," she said.
Nevhuhulwi said the motive of the shooting is subject to police investigation and a case of murder and attempted murder is opened. "No one has been arrested," she said. Meanwhile the families of the deceased gathered at the scene and were distraught.
