While many celebrities are divorcing, politicians seem to be getting lucky in the love department. Top businessman and politician Mike Maile is the latest politician to make things official for the second time.

FAMILIAR FIGURE IN POLITICS

Maile who is a brother to MEC of Human Settlement in Gauteng, Lebogang Maile, has officially taken a second wife. Nokubongwa Mdlalose, a top government official, and Mike made it official when they got married traditionally in front of their friends and family recently. Mike is Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s close confidante and best friend and is well known and respected in political circles, he is also part of the ’Alex Mafias’ group of former activists from Alexandra township, who have risen to positions of influence. His wedding comes on the heels of Mashatile also getting married weeks ago.

FRIENDSHIP THAT BLOSSOMED

Sources close to the situation say Mike and Nokubongwa started off as friends but over the years their chemistry developed into something solid. Although Nokubongwa is much younger than Mike, sources say the two get along very well and have a lot in common from politics to life in general. "They have come a long way when Mike and have so much respect for each other," adds the source. "She is known in the political circles but she is not one of these women who like to take selfies at events, she takes herself seriously and is not chasing fame," adds the source.

NOT A HOMEWRECKER

The sources tell ZiMoja that Mike’s wife Daisy gave the couple her blessing. According to the source, it took Mike years for him to get Daisy on board. "Mike respects his wife and adores her. She was there before everything and will remain there. Him taking a second wife doesn’t mean he loves her less," adds the source. When called for comment, Mike refused to comment citing that it is a private family matter ."Unfortunately, I can’t comment as it is a private matter," he said. Attempts to get a comment from Nokubongwa proved fruitless.
