Top PSL striker kidnapped and hijacked

Evans Risuke was hijacked

Sekhukhune United striker, Evans Rusike, was allegedly kidnapped and hijacked by thugs in Midrand last night. The former Supersport United player was allegedly cornered by thugs in front of the gate of his residential complex in Midrand, where he is believed to be occupying one of the luxurious apartments.

HIJACKING AND KIDNAPPING ORDEAL CAPTURED ON CCTV

According to a police statement seen by ZiMoja, the incident happened at 8pm and was also captured on CCTV footage of the complex where Rusike resides. The police statement indicates that the player was kidnapped and put inside a vehicle used by the robbers and was later dumped at a nearby bush to give the thugs enough time to make a run with his car before the tracker could try to locate it. "It is alleged that police were doing patrols when they were informed of a hijacking that had just occurred. Police then interviewed the security at the gate further and made inquiries about the information they obtained. The registration number of the hijacked car helped lead the police to the victim's correct address. The information collected supported by the video footage at the gate, gave a clear picture of what transpired. A white car is seen parking by the estate gate with about four to five suspects exiting the car and quickly running to the luxurious car and forcing the victim out of his vehicle and putting him into their car before speeding off with him inside, " reads the police statement.

PLAYER SAYS HIJACKERS THREATENED TO KILL HIM

In the statement, Rusike said the thugs made away with his car worth R300 000. He said the incident happened so fast and he could not remember the faces of his hijackers stating that they did not allow him to view their faces. He said the robbers had pressed his face against the flood board of the car and he was instructed to look down. He said they told him that if he failed to cooperate, they were going to kill him.

VEHICLE HAD NO TRACKER

Shockingly, Rusike told the police that his luxury car had no tracker and that it was only insured by a bank. This discovery, a police source said was going to make it difficult for them to catch the hijackers stating that they have nothing to rely on to conduct tracing except for the CCTV footage from the security complex in Midrand. The same police official said they had already run the number plates of the vehicle that was used by the robbers to hijack Rusike and said they found that it was also linked to another case at Johannesburg Central Police station. Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a case of car hijacking and kidnapping was opened at Midrand Police Station and that an investigation is underway. "No arrests have been made yet. Police are still searching for the suspects," he said.
