Three children aged between two and six have died in Bolobedu, Limpopo, after they suffocated inside a parked family car inside the yard on Wednesday afternoon.

SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said police received a complaint from the local clinic at about 14:00, about three children who were brought in by their parents in a critical condition after they were allegedly discovered lying unconscious inside a parked sedan. "Upon arrival, they found that the two children both girls were already certified dead. The third child ,who is a boy aged three, passed away on yesterday morning, "said Mashaba.

Mashaba said according to the information available to the police, the two children, a three-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister went to play next door with the two-year-old girl and while playing, they got inside a parked vehicle with all the windows closed. "They were later discovered unconscious by a younger relative who alerted the elders. The three children were then rushed to a local clinic. Two were declared dead on arrival, the third one, a 3-year-old boy was transferred to Kgapane hospital and later to Mankweng where he was admitted and later pronounced dead, "said Mashaba. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the police to leave no stone unturned to unearth the circumstances surrounding these mysterious deaths. She also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
