Rapper Leslie "Da L.E.S" Mampe, who was admitted to the hospital last week Friday after suffering a stroke ahead of his 39th birthday party, has been moved from a private hospital to a public hospital. The rapper was moved to the public hospital just a few days after his mother, who has been living in the United States of America, arrived in South Africa.

RECOVERY

A close friend who has visited the rapper in the hospital said he is conscious, but he is unable to move. "He can see and hear everyone, but he cannot speak or move. He was put in intensive care at a private hospital in Sandton and was moved to the public hospital a day ago,' the friend said. "He is not okay but it is not my place or any of my friends to say what is wrong. His eyes are showing a fighting spirit,' the friend added. Elaborating on whether his family can afford health care, the friend said: "Da L.E.S contributed immensely to the country's entertainment business, and it is a sign of Ubuntu to donate when someone is ill,' the insider revealed. "People donate when there is a wedding, a funeral, or a birthday and why can they not donate to the recovery of one of our own stars whether they can afford it or not?' asked the friend. Earlier this week, the rapper's friends made a request for donations to help his family with his medical bills.

SPEEDY RECOVERY

The award-winning rapper's family and friends are praying for his recovery. In a statement sent out by his family a few days ago, they said he was in a stable condition. "This remains a challenging time for his loved ones and his family calls on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period," the friend said, adding that a spokesperson is yet to be allocated by the Mampe family. Da L.E.S' mom, Priscilla Mampe, could not comment. Words of recovery have come pouring in for the Love & Hips Hop South Africa star. Kiernan "AKA' Forbes' father, Tony Forbes, wrote on social media, "Fight Leslie!' Singer Ishmael Morabe shared a picture of him and Da L.E.S captioned, "Stay strong, my brother. I know you're going to be back with us in no time. Love you, king.'
