The Night with Legends concert is an event that honours South African Kwaito veterans who have contributed to the industry, economy and show business. Every year, Kwaito legend and businessman Arthur Mafokate gathers music lovers to honour the artist. This year, the event will not be going ahead due to lack of funds. Arthur has self-funded the concert since it's inception and said he doesn't have the money to fund it this year.

TRIBUTE

Arthur paid tribute to the late Kwaito legend, Mapaputsi, real name Sandile Albert Gqweta (Ngwenya) who recently passed after a long illness. Arthur said: There is an unfortunate trend of the country's entertainment industry of overlooking local talent and legends while readily supporting international artists. They continue to let our artists down," he said.

NO SHOW

This year, Mapaputsi was set to perform at the Night with Legends concert before his untimely passing. "There will be no concert this year, legends will not get to eat or have the respect and support,' Arthur added. He expressed his disappointment because he doesn't have funds to pull it off or any financial support. "The event had to be called off, denying artists the opportunity to treat their fans and supporters to a memorable evening to their music. There is a lack of support from the government,' he concluded.
