Despite the success of Floyd "Money" Mayweather Gala Dinner there was no auction which was meant to help the needy.

SOCIAL MEDIA BECAME A BUZZ

The US boxing legend caused a social media buzz as the Who’s Who of South Africa flocked to his highly publicised gala dinner creating a buzz of excitement throughout the nation.

THE DINNER WAS A TOTAL SUCCESS

The black-tie affair held at the swanky Sandton Convention Centre was indeed success, the star-studded occasion attracted not only celebrities but also the esteemed presence of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.

EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT

Nothing was short of fabulosity as the black-tie affair was meticulously organised to exude elegance and grandeur. The glitzy affair had all the right party ingredients from expensive chandeliers, expensive floral arrangements, and a red carpet that stretched like a royal pathway set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

As the anticipation grew, South African celebrities, influential figures, and distinguished guests arrived, draped in their most exquisite and expensive attire, while eagerly awaiting the arrival of the legendary Floyd Mayweather.

IT WAS ALL ONE BIG PARTY WITH NO ACTION

But it seems like the organisers forgot the most important part of the event, the auction. According to one of the organisers due to the capacity of the event, the programme had to be changed because they were running behind schedule. According to the source organisers had acquired the work of a Greek artist that was supposed to be auctioned and the proceeds were going towards three boxing academies which were already selected around Gauteng.

"There was no auction instead people it was one big beautiful party that was beautifully put together," said the organiser.

EVENT PLANNERS ARE PROMISING THAT THERE WILL BE CHARITY IN THE NEAR FUTURE

But one of the organisers, Simphiwe Majola says they had to change things on the last minute because they were running behind the initial planned time. "The CSI part is still going to take place, remember this is a long-term project, our main focus became more about honouring our boxing legends, we still have the stunning artwork," he says. It is unclear whether Mayweather will return back to Mzansi for the promised charity event.

Another source who attended said they were looking forward to the auction part of the event but sadly it never took place. "I would have loved to see the charity part of the event, to have someone like Mr. Money man present, does not happen every day, we need to utilise such opportunities to our own advantage, I hope those poor boxing academies were not in attendance, imagine being promised money and jiki jiki the story changes," adds the source.

The impressive guest list included A-list celebrities such as Nadia Nakai, Mihlali Ndamase, the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa, Actress Sophie Ndaba, athletes, musicians. Prominent figures from various sectors mingled, creating an atmosphere of glamour and sophistication.

According to the organisers the black-tie event was not solely about glitz and glamour, Floyd Mayweather, known for his philanthropy, utilized this exclusive event as an opportunity to make a positive impact on South African society. But another source says if that was the case the charity was going to be priority. "I feel like they missed a perfect opportunity to raise funds for those upcoming boxers, I am sure even Mayweather himself would have donated some of his personal cash, but I guess there will always be next time," adds the source.
