The Moja Love reality show called Most Wanted has started making a difference in the streets of South Africa. On Sunday, the channel aired an episode where a wanted suspect from Siyabuswa in Oorlog, Mpumalanga, had been on the run for nine years. The suspect, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victims, is accused of kidnapping and raping two young women in 2015.

WANTED CRIMINAL

The man's victims shared their stories on the show in an episode on Sunday about what happened on the night of 15 January 2015, when they were raped. Even though the episode ended without the suspect's arrest, he was arrested the day before the episode was aired. He was arrested by the Siyabuswa SAPS after viewers recognised him from a picture shown on the episodic promo on Saturday. In the promo, presenter Themba Lukhele who is known as Skeem GP, is seen going around the around Siyabuswa looking for the suspect without success. Speaking to Lukhele, the two women said they were walking together with their two male friends in the township on that fateful night when they were accosted by two males at gunpoint. One of the men is allegedly a well know feared thug in the area. The two men were instructed to run away by the accused while the two women were taken to a certain house at another section and raped until early hours of the morning. They were then taken to Oorlog, where the two criminals continued raping them in the bush and robbed them of their cellphones and bankcards. The suspects were arrested and released on bail. The one suspect absconded from court and a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

ARRESTED CONFIRMED

Mpumalanga SAPS spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli confirmed the arrest. "SAPS can confirm that a 35-year-old male suspect was arrested on Saturday, 02 March 2024 by the police at Siyabuswa during a sting operation. He is facing multiple charges, including rape and others. In addition, there are still ongoing investigations and identity parade will be conducted," Mdhluli said.
