They are both highly renowned award-winning actors, with unique acting styles and personas. However, thespians Hlomla Dandala and Zolisa Xaluva are suddenly being pitted against each other. This come after Zolisa left the e-TV show Smoke & Mirrors playing the role of powerful Caesar due to contractual disagreements. The part was taken on by Hlomla Dandala, who according to some fans, nailed the role in his own right.
DECLINING THE OFFER TO RETURN
A source revealed to ZiMoja that Final Chapter Productions boss Zuko Nodada has asked the Zolisa to return to the show, which he kindly declined. "He gracefully declined to return, he didn't beat around the bush about it. He felt his time was up despite bosses giving him a generous offer," the source said.
Hlomla on the other hand, is said to be in limbo about whether he should stay or leave the show. "He is not happy with the writers and the direction they are taking with his interpretation of Caesar,' the source added. "He has sat down with producers and writers and he is still not happy. After all, actors also have a say. He feels it makes him look weak.' The insider said Hlomla is also feeling the pressure of being compared to Zolisa. "He hates the comparison, which is fair because replacing someone is not easy, had he come in as Caesar's brother, he would have been different. He does not like the pressure and is thinking of leaving the show.' The source said one of the young male directors was blatant in the comparison. "He said, why don't you do this and that like Zolisa. That was unnecessary and just rude." However while being compared, the two actors are said to be getting along like a house on fire with no issues. "They have mutual respect for each other. But comparing such people is really not fair on the craft and on the actors.' The source said Hlomla is making his way out of the show. "They are going to kill the character of Caesar, he dies, ultimately.' Both Hlomla and Zolisa declined to comment on the matter.
