The Wife actor Sipho Ndlovu appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court today after spending the weekend behind bars on a charge of assault.

LAYING COUNTER CHARGES

This actor was arrested on Friday by Douglasdale police after his ex-girlfriend Thandeka Mhlanga opened an assault case against him. The couple was involved in a nasty breakup a week ago after Thandeka allegedly caught Sipho with another woman at his house. After Thandeka made an accusation of the assault against the actor on social media, he laid three charges against her, leading to her being arrested on Thursday and spending a night in jail. She was later released on R1 000 bail. The actor laid charges of assault, crimen injuria, and defamation of character against her. Thandeka then opened a countercharge against the actor shortly after her release from police holding cells.

MEDIATION PROCESS

Sipho's lawyer, Lwandiso Kwabanana, said that his client was released on free bail to allow the mediation process to take place. "Sipho Ndlovu was apprehended on Friday shortly after he had not opposed bail against the respondent (an ex-girlfriend). On Friday, the court decided to postpone the matter for mediation after seven days thereof. Today, we are advised that due to the countercharge claimed by the respondent, mediation between the parties is now set for 21 August 2024," Kwabanana said. Thandeka said she was disappointed that the man who assaulted her was let off on free bail.
