"Enough is enough! We are tired of living at the mercy of criminals" This is a public outcry from a community leader in Diepsloot, Rufus Batista . This comes after ten suspected thugs who were allegedly terrorising the community were killed in a mob justice attack over the weekend.

Speaking to ZiMoja, Batista said he escaped unharmed on Friday when the notorious gang consisting of both local and foreign nationals tried to assassinate him for disturbing them from their thuggery operation in the township on Friday morning. Batista said that ten of the alleged perpetrators died after the community set them alight after they wanted to attack the Community Policing Porum. "I don't know how I managed to survive the assassination attempt on my life. They shot the person who was next to me four times. They shot him because we were fighting this group of young men who were terrorising our area. We have been patient enough and we have tried several times to ask the local cops to help us with these criminals," he said.

Batista said his friend was fighting for his life at a Johannesburg hospital. "We can be seen as bad people but what the community did was right after what these boys did to us. We are sick and tired of people thinking that they can do as they please. Enough is enough. We can no longer tolerate people thinking that it is fine to rob and kill innocent people. It is unacceptable," he said. Batista said that he was not afraid of dying as he is protecting the future of the kids.
