A female passenger was shot dead when a taxi she was travelling in was attacked by unknown gunmen. The taxi driver was also fatally shot. The incident happened at the Esangweni taxi rank in Tembisa, Gauteng, during peak hour yesterday morning.
Commuters who were going to their respective workplaces had to run for their lives when the gunmen attacked the taxi they were travelling in. The taxi was ferrying passengers to Alexandra township and to Sandton Square. It is alleged that an unknown car pulled up next to the taxi and gunmen came out of the car and started shooting at the taxi driver. One of the female passengers who was sitting next to the driver was fatally shot.
